| > Scalextric Digital | Cars must be fitted with a micro chip to run on Scalextric Digital but can still be used on non digital systems in the normal manner. Digital systems cannot run normal analogue cars, however, so when upgrading an anologue set all the power and speed controllers must be changed. Digital accessories can only be used in conjunction with digital cars and power units.
Why use digital? The great advantage is that you can change lanes if there is a crash up ahead, or to get past a slower driver. More people can race, getting accurate lap times that can be blisteringly quick with smooth control. Hand controllers have an ultra responsive throttle with push button braking and lane changing. We think that to achieve the best results with digital a large circuit incorporating overtaking and pit lanes is necessary, so you must have plenty of space. | Scalextric 1/32 A1 GP Racer Team Great Britain (C2706D) Digital model of the Britsh A1 Grand Prix Race Car, length 152mm, wheelbase 94mm, Mabuchi motor FF; 18k rpm; gear ratio 9:27,rear mounted In-line motor; rear 2 wheel drive A1 Grand Prix is more than just another motorsport phenomenon; it's an entirely new sport - The World Cup of Motorsport. Pitting driver against driver and country against country for the first time, A1 Grand Prix brings together 22 nations representing 80 percent of the world's populations to compete on a level playing field. Each meeting features two events - a sprint race and a longer feature race. The series launched in 2005, with all cars using Lola chassis powered by a light but very powerful 3.4 litre V8 Zytek engine. For the 2008/09 season Ferrari will be providing the engines for the series.
Team Great Britain finished third in the Championship for the first three years of the series. The 2007/08 drive was shared between Oliver Jarvis and Robbie Kerr. Jarvis won in the Zandvoort feature race and secured a further three second place finishes. Kerr won the sprint race at Brands Hatch from pole position on the grid and finished second in the feature race to ensure that Team Great Britain beat Team France to third place in the Championship. | |
