Cars must be fitted with a micro chip to run on Scalextric Digital but can still be used on non digital systems in the normal manner. Digital systems cannot run normal analogue cars, however, so when upgrading an anologue set all the power and speed controllers must be changed. Digital accessories can only be used in conjunction with digital cars and power units.

Why use digital? The great advantage is that you can change lanes if there is a crash up ahead, or to get past a slower driver. More people can race, getting accurate lap times that can be blisteringly quick with smooth control. Hand controllers have an ultra responsive throttle with push button braking and lane changing. We think that to achieve the best results with digital a large circuit incorporating overtaking and pit lanes is necessary, so you must have plenty of space.
