Since 2001 the four-wheel drive, 300 bhp Xsara has been a regular and successful competitor in the WRC races. Citroen achieved their best result in 2003 when they won the Constructors' World Championship title, thanks to their Spanish driver Carlos Sainz, who took 3rd place with 63 points. Sainz is reputed to be one of the most disciplined of rally drivers. He routinely proves this by his effective driving style and a perfection which he has made his own throughout his 17 years in the WRC. He owes his two Drivers' World Championship titles to his consistency and uniform good performance. He has been in the top rank for points for years. "King Carlos", as he is called by his fans, has been driving for Citroen since 2003 and for the same length of time with Marc Marti.
